friday the 13th

Second Friday the 13th of the year. Lots on the cal in 2026, not much for ‘27. Month overdue, this post was from February and how quickly the cold of winter fades into memory.

But it was that last Friday, walking the usual route, weaving through university apartments, meandering down the paths, breathing in the air that was just starting to warm, when it all felt quiet and quaint and familiar.

Our arms raised a little at the young couple on the roof of their house, lawn chairs, beers, stereo on in the truck below. Not a care in the world, anywhere, in northwest Arkansas.
